Air Max 1 '86 pays homage to one of Nike's most famous stories: the introduction of the visible Air unit. Interestingly, in the first months after launch, Air Max 1 had a much larger Air window than it does today. Why was it made smaller? Because we realized that the exposed Air unit tended to break down at low temperatures. Our engineers went to work to immediately modify the shoe and created a new Air unit by "shrinking the window in height and length." Fortunately, we are no longer in the 1980s and the days of Air units breaking down are now a thing of the past.

This Metallic Silver and Cool Grey edition brings out all the details beloved by any Air Max fan, while the branding embossed on the tongue and heel adds a touch of elegance to the sleek design. "Big Bubble" pays homage to the beginnings of the exposed Nike Air unit, always ready to follow you step by step into the future.
